We start by praising and thanking God for who He is and what He has done. Focus on His character (loving, holy, gracious, merciful, just) and praise Him for His sovereignty over all things and His faithfulness. Express gratitude for your blessings, big and small, and for the gift of salvation through Jesus.      

Repentance is turning away from sin and turning toward God. As humans with a sinful nature, we need to daily confess our sins and repent of them. Admit your struggles and failures and allow the Spirit to convict you of the things that are wrong in your life.

This is where we lift up our prayer requests for ourselves and for others. We ask our God for small and big things and know He hears our prayers. We petition Him to move in miraculous ways, for lives to be changed, for the lost to be found and for renewal in our communities. We also ask that He continue to work in our hearts to align them with HIs will.  

The final part of this prayer is pausing, quieting your heart and spending time listening to God. Be willing to surrender and yield to whatever He tells you or however He guides you. This is where trust and obedience come into play.
